Your journey begins in the heart of Barcelona with a visit to the Mercat de Sant Josep, La Boqueria. Before entering the market, we will stroll along Carrer de la Petxina and visit Pastisseria Escribà, one of Barcelona’s most beautiful architectural jewels. Next door is El Turia, Alba’s in-laws’ restaurant, which was part of the neighborhood for more than 40 years.

Just a few steps away, we will enter the market. Explore its stalls, smell the fresh seafood and the hams hanging, take in the colorful displays of fruit arranged with so much care. Snack on local candy and nuts, discover seasonal produce, and don’t forget to get a tallat (Catalan cortado). Together with Chef Rubén García, we will select seasonal produce, fresh seafood, and meats while learning about the importance of market culture in everyday Catalan life.

Before heading to our hands-on cooking workshop, we will stop at the one and only Quim de la Boqueria for a glass of Cava and a bite. Chef Quim is a longtime friend of both Alba and Chef Rubén. After the market visit, we will enjoy a hands-on cooking experience. In Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter, we will prepare and share our lunch using the fresh ingredients selected earlier in the day. If you prefer not to cook, enjoy a glass of wine and watch your new friends prepare the meal.

Palamós · Castell de Perelada

This morning, we leave Barcelona behind and head to the Costa Brava. Our first stop is Palamós, where we'll take a 15-minute walk along a coastal trail to Cala s'Alguer, one of the region's most beautiful coves.

The path winds through pines, thyme, rosemary, a smell you will never forget. At Cala s'Alguer, the colorful fishermen's cottages and clear waters create a setting that reflects the true character of the Costa Brava.

Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Cala s'Alguer, you will be introduced to the wines of the Empordà PDO (DOP Empordà), one of Catalonia's oldest and most distinctive wine regions. During this guided tasting, you'll discover the unique terroir shaped by the Mediterranean Sea and the Tramuntana wind while sampling a selection of some of the region's finest wines. Later, we'll continue to Castell de Peralada, where we'll spend the night. Truffle Hunting Experience

DAY 6

Truffle Hunting · Mas Albereda

Start your day with a breakfast to remember, featuring the finest local charcuterie, pa amb tomàquet, and other beloved Catalan delicacies. It’s the perfect way to begin the day, savoring the authentic flavors of the region. Following breakfast, we’ll embark on a Truffle Hunting Experience.

The truffle is one of the forest’s most treasured gifts — a hidden gem born underground, offering unique gastronomic and sensory qualities. Its intense aroma and unmistakable flavor elevate any dish, and it is also highly prized in the world of cosmetics for its remarkable properties.

There are over 70 species of black truffle in the world, but in Catalonia, we are fortunate to have three of the four most esteemed varieties: the winter black truffle (Tuber melanosporum), the summer white truffle (Tuber aestivum), and the autumn truffle (Tuber uncinatum). This is a true privilege that truffle-producing regions proudly celebrate and share.

After the hunt, we’ll gather for a truffle-inspired multi-course lunch, where every dish showcases this prized ingredient in a different way, highlighting its versatility and depth of flavor.

Later in the afternoon, we’ll continue to Mas Albereda, where you’ll have time to unwind and enjoy the peaceful surroundings of this charming country estate. The evening is yours to relax or, for those who wish, indulge in an optional dinner at the hotel’s Michelin-awarded restaurant by Chef Nandu Jubany, where Catalan cuisine is presented with creativity, elegance, and a deep respect for local ingredients.

La Cerdanya Valley and the Majesty of La Serra del Cadí

DAY 7

La Cerdanya

Today we journey into the breathtaking landscapes of La Cerdanya, a mountain region where gastronomy, pastoral traditions, and nature come together. Surrounded by the majestic Serra del Cadí, La Cerdanya has long been known for its rich culinary heritage, deeply rooted in shepherd culture and seasonal mountain ingredients.

Our day begins at Molí de Ger, one of Catalonia’s most celebrated artisan cheesemakers. Here, you will discover the fascinating world of Formatge de Tupí, one of the oldest and most distinctive cheeses in the Catalan Pyrenees. Traditionally made by fermenting aged cheese with olive oil and spirits, tupí cheese was historically created by shepherds as a way to preserve cheese through the harsh mountain winters.

Bold, creamy, and intensely flavorful, it is a product deeply connected to the identity of the region. During our visit, you will learn about the traditional production methods, the history behind this unique cheese, and the revival of artisanal mountain cheesemaking in Catalonia.

Following the visit, we will enjoy a traditional lunch centered around one of La Cerdanya’s most iconic dishes: Trinxat de la Cerdanya, is a humble yet deeply comforting dish made with potatoes, cabbage, and pork, cooked until beautifully crisp and golden. Born from the resourcefulness of mountain families, trinxat reflects the essence of Pyrenean cuisine, simple ingredients like the winter cabbage, pork belly and potatoes, are transformed into a very rich flavor. Through this meal, you will gain a deeper understanding of the culinary traditions, rural life, and seasonal cooking practices that define the gastronomy of La Cerdanya.

At the end of the day, we will arrive at La Torre del Remei, a beautifully restored modernist mansion. The rest of the day will be at leisure, giving you time to enjoy peaceful walks through surrounding villages: Bolvir, Puigcerdà, Guils de Cerdanya, … and take in the breathtaking views of what is considered one of the most beautiful valleys in the world.

A Taste of Tradition: Vermut and the Calçotada Experience

DAY 8

Bràfim

Today we immerse ourselves in one of Catalonia’s most beloved beverage the vermut and the celebration of the traditional calçotada. This experience offers a unique window into the social and gastronomic traditions that define everyday life in Catalonia.

Our day begins in the village of Bràfim with a visit to Casa Padró, one of Catalonia’s most respected vermouth producers. During this immersive experience, you will discover the fascinating history of vermouth in Catalan culture—not simply as a drink, but as an entire social ritual deeply woven into local life. Traditionally enjoyed before lunch during the famous hora del vermut, vermouth became a moment for gathering with family and friends, sharing conversation, and enjoying small bites together.

You will learn about the artisanal production process, the selection of botanicals and herbs used to aromatize the wine, and the delicate balance that gives vermouth its characteristic bittersweet complexity. Alongside the tasting, we will explore the essential foods that accompany a traditional vermut experience: conservas and tinned seafood, anchovies, olives, pickled vegetables, potato chips, and other classic vermut bites that have become icons of Catalan social dining culture. This experience offers a deeper understanding of how food, drink, and community come together around the vermut tradition.

Following the visit, we will head into the countryside for an authentic calçotada, one of Catalonia’s most festive and cherished gastronomic celebrations. Centered around calçots—a local, sweet, and tender onion variety traditionally grilled over open flames until perfectly charred—the calçotada is much more than a meal; it is a communal ritual that marks the winter season across Catalonia. Served with rich and smoky salsa romesco or salvitxada, calçots are eaten with the hands in a joyful and informal atmosphere that brings people together around the fire and the table.

The feast traditionally continues with grilled meats, local wines, and pa de pagès, and of course drinking with the porró, creating an experience that perfectly captures the convivial spirit of Catalan gastronomy. Through this day, you will experience firsthand how food traditions in Catalonia are not only about flavor, but also about identity, celebration, and community.

After lunch, we will return to Barcelona, where you'll have the remainder of the day at your leisure.
